Whose Nanotechnology?
Perspectives of Researchers From Underrepresented Populations Conference

Deadline to submit abstract extended: February 29, 2008

Conference date: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Arizona State University

The Center for Nanotechnology in Society at Arizona State University, the More Graduate Education at Mountain States Alliance (MGE@MSA) and the Western Alliance to Expand Student Opportunities (WAESO) invites and encourages the submission of proposals for research paper presentations from undergraduate and graduate students who are doing research either:

  1. Nanotechnology-related STEM fields, and are strongly influenced by the perspectives of underrepresented populations in their work.
  2. Societal aspects of converging technologies and nanotechnology with specific concerns about underrepresented perspectives.

Abstracts for research papers to be presented which address one of both of the above two general categories will be accepted. Notifications will be made on a rolling basis with a final deadline for electronic submission of abstracts of February 29, 2008 and final notifications by March 6, 2008.

The final deadline for electronic submission of completed papers is March 22, 2008.

Competitive scholarships will be given to qualified students whose papers have been accepted for presentation at this conference. These scholarships consist of payment or reimbursement (student and mentor) as appropriate for travel (airplane, train, car, taxi, etc.), lodging (hotel), per diem (meals) expenses, student ($500.00) stipend, certificate of participation and opportunity to compete for "best research paper presentation" award with cash prizes in several categories.
